Summer Is Over

Summer is officially over in PR.  School starts Monday - very exciting!

We had kind of an exhausting week, not even counting M's work challenges.  Tuesday we looked at one more house and then decided to choose the fish house - the one near the coast that has a Koi pond and lighted waterfalls.  The fish are neat but we chose it because of the nice shaded, private, outdoor area.  Location-wise it offers a big mall about 5 mins away, and an alternate  to the freeway that is longer but hugs the coast and is a much nicer driving experience. Also very close to nice beaches in Dorado.   Central to all of our goals except vicinity to CG housing.  Maybe 20 mins from there.  We *should* sign the lease Weds and hopefully move in about two weeks. We're saving the champagne until it's official...

Weds we had orientation at the kids' school.  Everyone is very excited!  B and the kids will be leaving about the same time as M - school starts early here!  We'll keep you posted how it all goes. We're not messing with the school bus until we're at the house.  Besides, in Isla Verde the bus picks up at 6AM vice 6:30 at the fish house.

Thursday we drove out to Quebradilla on the expressway to pick up the car.  M drove it back with J through torrential downpour.

As a side note, the PR answer to EZ Pass (Autoexpreso) is brilliant.  These passive stickers that have a sensor and stick onto the windshield - no bulky box whose battery can run out.

Then we hit 6:30PM rush hour traffic heading into the San Juan area - what a mess!  But we kept a sense of humor about it, watching little Suzukis and Yaris' tangle with cement mixers. If we get the fish house, there is a ferry as an alternative to driving into OSJ which goes from a dock 4 miles from the house to a pier 4 blocks from work.

Friday, B took the kids to Buchanan where there is a nice little water park that costs a whopping  $50/year for a family membership. Both the kids have made exponential gains with swimming, and L was going down the water slide and swimming to the ladder. Both are diving for toys at the bottom of the pool.

Friday and Saturday (hopefully not tonight!) there was a Latin Jazz concert on a raised stage facing our bedroom windows.  We opened up the windows and enjoyed it.

Yesterday we went back to Pinones beach for swimming, hiking, and lunch at the kiosks.  Today we split up for errands getting ready for the big day.

B and J with the new car... She was named Coco Frio.  Pack of stray dogs in the background.

Tons of big blue lizards everywhere. The kids went nuts.

Forced L to stand still for a photo.

The road to Pinones.

Hiked up to a bluff facing the Atlantic.
